Hamilton's Indiana Jones Inspiration for Conservation International

It’s not that Harrison Ford ‘is’ Indiana Jones, though sometimes you might be forgiven for thinking so. The craggy American actor has had all sorts of defining roles, from Han Solo in Star Wars to CIA man Jack Ryan in the film version of a pair of Tom Clancy novels, but none seem to fit the man himself quite so neatly as the two-fisted archaeologist.

Thus, in his off-screen hours, Ford sits on the board of the Archaeological Institute of America as well as Conservation International, another unimpeachable outdoorsy cause in which he is called to fight the good fight against the bad guys.

He doesn’t quite put it that way of course – he talks, a trifle less compellingly, about “helping to achieve major conservation outcomes” – but he does recognise the need for the right equipment to do the job, and will be taking into battle a watch from  Hamilton’s new Khaki Team Earth collection along with his bullwhip.

Ford’s second collaboration with Hamilton for CI is called the Team Earth Khaki and this is quite definitely the watch “Indie” would have worn had it been around in his heyday. A black-faced classic with simple arabic numerals, a date window at 3 o’clock, a stainless steel case with a notched bezel, and a rugged brown strap, it has the look of an vintage aviator’s watch that is ready to see some action. At this point, though, it’s hard to tell whether this is art imitating life or life imitating art.
