It's not all sell sell here at TIME². Earlier this month Breitling UK invited us to R.A.F Scampton near Lincoln to see the Red Arrows display team practicing for their summer display tour.
Breitling is renowned by pilots the world over and has long been a patron of the Red Arrows. So it was fascinating to take a peek inside the Reds' inner sanctum - the pilots' lounge and briefing room, as Squadron leader Ben Murphy, or "the Boss" as he is known to the rest of the team, talked through that morning's sortie.
Murphy prepped his pilots on the various manoeuvres which would be practiced, at times using scale models to demonstrate angles and relative positions. With the briefing over the pilots headed to their Hawk T1 Jets, started their engines (in sync of course) and moved from opening "battle" formation into their synchronised drills and fly past.
With practice over it was time for the debrief and it was fascinating to see the degree to which each one of the pilots critiques their own performance. It also gave us a chance to debrief Red Arrow member Graham Duff on the customised Breitling emergency watch all of the squadron wear. The Red Arrows Breitling features a special dial showing the red arrows squadron logo and the emergency frequency changed to the military version.
And then it was time to head back to TIME² HQ where we try to be perfectly synchronised without working on an emergency frequency!
