WATCH ROYAL FAMILY - TAG, Baume & Mercier, Maurice Lacroix, Bell & Ross

With the whole nation joyfully anticipating the wedding of the century this Friday, we thought there was no better time than to preview TIME²’s own watch Royal Family.

THE KING – TAG Heuer

Yes we know it should technically be the Queen, but we can’t give TAG Heuer that label when it continues to produce some of the finest masculine timepieces we have ever seen. TAG has been creating precision luxury Swiss watches for over 150 years, and the brand is draped in tradition, quality and glamour – much like our own Royals.

Taking a look at the latest range, you can quickly see why they have been picked as the King of the watches on TIME². The TAG Grand Carrera range is something of a masterpiece, a watch style that will last generations whilst still keeping perfect time; transcending any trends or fashions that will come and go. Whether you pick a steel bracelet, brown or black leather strap, this watch will be one of the best investments you ever make.

PRINCE CHARLES – Baume & Mercier

Baume & Mercier produce beautiful classic styles which are understated, elegant and completely timeless. They are a watch brand that would never bow to a passing fad; instead producing timepieces such as the Classima range, which always look chic and refined, whilst never dating.

The company is also completely authentic in terms of its values and loyalty to its heritage. All these qualities you could well associate with the Prince of Wales. He is very traditional and proud of his lineage, but not stuffy and out of touch with the public.

Baume & Mercier also states that they are “committed to continuously improve its ethical, social and environmental performance”, whilst they will only ever buy diamonds certified by the Kimberley Process Certification System. These are all ethical responsibilities that would very much appeal to Prince Charles, who is a well known humanitarian and environmental activist.

PRINCE WILLIAM – Maurice Lacroix

Prince William is very much the modern Royal; proud of his linage, conscious of tradition and carries himself with the upmost dignity. However, he is also down to earth, enjoys his sport and going out and having a good time like many other young men his age. With all the responsibility placed on his shoulders each day, he manages to strike a balance between living a relatively 'normal' lifestyle, whilst still maintaining the hard working ethos and caring humanitarian nature that his Mother and Father instilled in him.

Maurice Lacroix couldn’t be a better match for this young Royal. They pride themselves on their distinctiveness and independence, whilst striking the ideal balance between modern and traditional watch styles.

The Les Classiques range is a collection of elegant watches with chic and simple lines, brought up to date with chronograph or moonphase features. The design-forward Pontos range could well be the watch of choice for this heir to the throne, as they have a much more modern and contemporary look but are kept grounded by their traditional shapes, subtle colours and the materials used. Do these characteristics remind you of anyone?

PRINCE HARRY – Bell & Ross

Last but not least, we come to Prince Harry. The oft described 'wild child' of the family, he has been no stranger to controversy over the years. However, he has redeemed himself within the eyes of the general public by keeping himself truly grounded and 'just like us'. His tour(s) of Iraq won our hearts, as he put his life on the line to serve our country. Rugged and masculine, Bell & Ross are the perfect match, and the final addition to our watch Royal Family.

Bell & Ross has not long been established as a luxury watch maker, but it is already making big waves within the market due to the bold statement designs and now iconic square casing. The brand specialises in military inspired time instruments, which means they are tough, durable and suitable for the extreme conditions of the armed forces – whether it be deep sea diving with the Navy, flying planes at altitude with the RAF or ground patrol with the Army.

The collection features timeless classic watch styles such as the vintage range , as well as its iconic square faced BR01 range. However, the stand out piece for me has to be the Bell & Ross Phantom, all black carbon coated watch. It is infinitely masculine, self-winding, and comes with all the extra features you would expect from a luxury watch. It is also as durable as they come; the face is constructed of carbon coated steel and the strap made of rubber – perfect for Harry to sport on his next tour of duty.
