Had to flag down an Ambulance and get my date to hospital as she had sort of passed out.Alas it was not my animal magnetism ! It turned out she was diabetic(...and not being medicated properly)and was lapsing into a diabetic coma ! Luckily the hospital sorted her out.

I finally got a date with the lad I'd fancied for weeks, but he turned out to be totally stupid...everything I asked him (in an effort to stimulate conversation), he replied with, 'I don't know really'. The only thing he did seem sure about was going out with me again but I couldn't face it...and never saw him again.

My birthday treat from my ex was to spend a weekend in Blackpool to watch the end of the "milk race" as he was a competitive cyclist. Needless to say, it wasn't my idea of a good time and he was soon dumped. Have never been out with a man who shaves his legs since !!

mine was a blind date set up by a friend, I met the bloke in a pub and it was awful to start with I am the glam type and the poor lad was a country bumpkin with his moleskin trousers and green checked shirt, all he could talk about was what time he had to get up for milking his cows, and all other smelly farmer stuff, then he accidentally spilt his drink on me (could have been intentional as I was not very nice), fortunately because of his milking the evening ended early. Lets say I have mellowed out a lot since then and am no where judgemental as what I was

  17. 17. By Elizabeth Smith on January 14, 2011

Sometimes I feel like my life is just one awful date but the worst has to be when my 'date' brought his Mum along to our first date. When it came to ordering she chose his food for him (with no discussion) then tutted at me when I ordered chips and said I needed to take better care of myself. (Given I was size 8 and swam every morning I was left speechless) When things get bad I comfort myself by thinking about what our wedding would have been like with her in charge and all the ghastly family events with her as my mother-in-law - suddenly everything in my life seems so much better!

  18. 18. By Joanne Ogden on January 14, 2011

Best ever date was definatley with my then boyfriend / now husband. We were going to visit his parents and for the weekend and stay over with them. Would be nice but not a rock n' roll. They live up in Manchester so he picked me up and we set off up the motorway. But we turned off and began heading off to Manchester airport! The date was a 3 night break to Rome which was amazing! The parent visit had been a ruse they were in on and a way to get me to pack some overnight things! Best date ever we had a brilliant Time2

Best date was with my first boyfriend. We met through Dateline and met to a local veggie cafe called The Treehouse. We got on straight away. It all just seemed so magic. 15 years we're still together. We used to go on anniversary dates at the cafe where we met until it closed. Now we've even called our house The Treehouse. It was love at first sight.

  23. 23. By esther james on January 14, 2011

Worst Date- I met a guy online and agreed to travel some way to meet him for a date. We had never actually spoken on on the phone before meeting which in hindsight was a little stupid. When I met him we decided to go for a meal. There was absolutely no chemistry between us and I found him very boring. The conversation mainly centred around him telling me about his Crohns disease and the associated bowel related problems he had. He also told me that his chosen career was professional gambler. Needless to say I didn't see him again!

  24. 24. By Emma on January 14, 2011

My worse date was a blind date set up by my neighbour it was with a very smug Mercedes car salesman who borrowed the most expensive car from the showroom and tried to convince me he owned it!. I think he was used to doing this and the dates being impressed but I started asking him whether his name was actually on the log book or was it just a car from the garage on loan and he spluttered and ummed and ahhed and couldnt really answer me needless to say the date didnt go well and he never called me again - I think I had a lucky escape!!!.

  25. 25. By William Jackson on January 14, 2011

The girl everyone fancies agreed to a dinner date with me, that was when things went wrong. First of all she trippedup in the bar, throwing her glass of red wine over me. (In a brand new suit.). Halfway through the meal something stuck in her throat and she was sick all over the table. Offf she went to the Ladies Cloakroom where she assaulted the attendant and we were ejectede from the premises.
Needless to say the date was not repeated. This was way back in the early '50,s.

  27. 27. By Gail Cartwright on January 15, 2011

the best date I've ever been on was just before Xmas. I'd been talking to a man on a dating site and got to the phone stage after only two emails. At 2pm he asked me to go to a Xmas ball with him, but the ball was this day,and he would have to pick me up at 3pm, due to the location! I had never met him and knew nothing about him! But I had the mad inclination to say yes! It was amazing! He looked like Daniel Craig in his tux, and the ball was in the theme of a French Moulin Rouge! There was stars in the ceiling, and girls in bikinis and Feather fans, there was a cabaret with dancers doing the can can and mime artists, there was champagne rooms, and a casino. There was a three course meal and then a disco where we danced all night, The whole night was amazing and he was a perfect gent, and I am still with him now and we see each other 3 times a week if not more, It's a date I'll NEVER forget!

  28. 28. By Mia Fergusson on January 15, 2011

I've only had the one boyfriend which happily turned out to be my one and only, 6 years on and we are still strong! So my best date, because i still laugh about it! Is when he had lit candles every were and anywhere and bought me gorgeous gifts, anyways we ended up having an amazing time until we realised our duvet was set alight! what a drama it was!! So my best date comes with a little advice - keep candles out of harms way because their VERY flammable LOL

to an indian wedding it was a second date and my date did not inform me it was an indian wedding where women should becovered from head to toe so we travelled from Norwich to Hertfordshire me in my LBD and heels.

When we got there you had to take your shoes off and put them in a cuby hole then I was given evil stares from everyone at the wsedding of whom I knew no one. Thedn because I had nothing to cover my head I had to use a bright orange square piece of rag.

I lasted 15mins which I am surprised at as if looks could kill I would of been dead a few times over. So I ran off and sat in the car for an hour and a half to make matters worse it raining while I was walking to the car so I got soaked and had to sit for the 2hour car journey home soaking wet

    There was no 3rd date

  33. 33. By Pameh on January 15, 2011

In the 1980's arranged marriages were very common in the Asian community. My parents had arranged for me to meet a guy, but the only way we could go on a date was if we were chaperoned. So we arranged to meet in an Indian restaurant and he brought along his sister and I was accompanied by my brother. It was so embarrassing, we could barely talk to each other, and there were long uncomfortable silences. He ordered his favourite dishes and they must have been the spiciest in the restaurant as I almost choked each time I took a mouthful and my eyes watered. I kept gulping down glasses of water. We had to cut the date short because I had to keep rushing to the loo as I got an upset stomach. In case you're wondering, I did not end up marrying him and am now happily married with two lovely children.

A couple of years ago I went out on a date with a bloke who called his Mum every five or ten minutes to let her know how things were going. At the end of the date - two thousand and one calls and text messages later - he rang her to come and pick him up. I had to get the bus.
    And his age? 36

  36. 36. By K. Francis on January 15, 2011

My worst date would have to be going to the cinema to see Muriel's Wedding with the man who many years down the line is now my ex-husband. It started off very well and I was enjoying the film and didn't really think much of it when he said in my ear "just popping to the loo, I am not feeling brilliant". Then I was disturbed again a few minutes later by an usher who had come to get me. It turned out the clown had walked into a door and knocked himself out and they had called an ambulance. Not only did I not get to see the end of the film, but I had to spend the evening in the accident and emergency department.

The worst date I ever went on was all my own fault. I had been trying for weeks to pull the bloke who worked in the local butcher's shop. I'd been going in, asking for advice on cuts of meat, buying this and that, even pretended to be fascinated as he held forth on which knives were best. I'd spent a fortune on various fancy cuts before he noticed me, and, seeing as I was a vegetarian at that time, my dog lived like a queen. Valentine's Day rolled around and I'd gone to so much effort - hairdressers, new dress, facials - you name it, I'd done it.

His rose and chocolates were well received and I played it cool, not letting hiim see I was weak at the knees. The pre-dinner drinks went like a charm - I was stunning, witty and entirely captivating. The restaurant was an expensive one, the table reserved, the champagne on ice - everything was going like a dream until he ordered for me. Of course, he had no idea I was a vegetarian, but after I threw up all over our Steak Tartares, I think he guessed. Dream date over in a flash!

First date was my best, only date really. My best friend became my girlfriend when i was 15, we went to a medieval festival in our home town and enjoyed the festivities. All capped off with an awkward but memorable kiss. 7 years later and we are soon to be married, a successful date i think.

  47. 47. By John on January 15, 2011

best date didn't start as such -
I got dragged by a good friend to see the Bangles live. (They had annoyed their partner by drooling over Susanna Hoffs so much in the run up to the show they put them off going, so i was the replacement.) When I arrived she had started already started queueing and was chatting to the people around them in the queue, most notably a cute girl, who we stood and chatted to all gig, and afterwards waiting to get autographs we talked some more and she borrowed my sweatshirt as we all (about 20 or so) sat in the cold for a few hours.
Nearly 3 years on and its still going great, (still not that keen on the bangles though!).

The scary thing is my friend bought the last 2 tickets for the gig.

  48. 48. By YVONNE on January 15, 2011

The thought of going on a blind date filled me with horror. At the club, 'Terry' was waiting outside. He was tall, he was dark, but he was also incredibly hairy ! He had an enormous beard. It was so big and bushy that it almost obliterated his features, and I couldn't really see what he looked like. He also had a huge mop of frizzy hair he scared me to death. We said hello and then glanced away from each other. He spoke very quietly Lynn had told me he was shy. The whole night he wouldn't dance, or even speak to me. By the end of the night i was considering just walking out, which i eventuallly did, after i gave him the number for the local pizza delievery instead of my own...

  50. 50. By Julie Booth on January 16, 2011

The worst date I have ever been on was a one night stand. I was 24 and we were having a fumble at my digs (nurses home) on the bed. I put my hand down his pants, and ......well.. lets just say, I must have had long nails or poor technique as the poor chap ended up in A&E with a torn John Thomas, and I refused to go with him as I worked there! I never saw him again......*blushes*

  51. 51. By Natalie Price on January 16, 2011

The worst date I went on was with a guy who only paid for his cinema ticket and not mine. Was lost for words!! I don't believe a man should pay for everything by any means but I thought he would have made an effort on the first date!! It goes without saying that I did not go on any more dates with him!! Oh and all he went on about for the whole date was the blumming supermarket that he worked at and how great it was!!!! Borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring!!

  52. 52. By Kristina Hutchinson on January 16, 2011

I met my date (who I had swapped numbers with the week earlier at a nightclub whilst rather the worse for wear) in my local pub. He was nothing like the charming adonis I remembered, he was very loud, had a very strange sense of humour and the dress sense worthy of a visit from the fashion police. The local was full of my friends and they took great pleasure in my discomfort whilst my date declared that I was his soul mate.... the longest evening of my life!

  53. 53. By joan on January 16, 2011

  54. 54. By Arabella on January 16, 2011

Early 20's (age, not decade!) and I was wearing a very tight skirt for a first date. Unbeknownst to me the young gentleman concerned owned something like a Morgan Kit Car which required my climbing over the sides to gain access. I could not hitch my skirt up so I had to be very ungraciously lifted in. Needless to say when the gig we were attending was over, I opted to go home with some friends we had bumped into and never saw him again.

  55. 55. By Helen G on January 16, 2011

I went on a date when I was younger, just to keep my mothers face straight, it was woeful, we had nothing in common and the silences were so akward. We actually went to see Blair Witch Project 2 at the cinema, that was never going to be a winning choice was it? To top it off on the drive home he blasted Bryan Adams' Greatest Hits.............................safe to say I never saw him again! :)

  56. 56. By Teresa Largent on January 16, 2011

The worst date I have ever been on was with a friend of mines brother he had a really flash car I drank far to much as I was nervous and the smell of the leather seats & the alchohol I was sick in the car . Funnily enough he didn't want to see me again I wonder why .

  57. 57. By John Smith on January 16, 2011

My Very Worst Date came after I had been sulking over my former fiancee for more than a year. I needed to get back in the dating field. I was still anxiety-ridden so I turned to online dating. I started chatting with a girl who was not what I was looking for but she wasn’t hideous and I agreed to meet up with her for lunch.

She asked me to meet her at her college cafeteria which was about 20 minutes away. She recognised me and introduced me to the guy who was with her, her ex-boyfriend. Weird… He leaves and I ask her what was good at the cafeteria. She says she has never eaten there. Weird again. So I grab a Nutri-grain bar and she refuses to eat. She acts as if she is put off by me and asks demeaning questions with a spiteful tone of voice. Keep in mind this girl is about five years younger than me and is about a 4 on a scale of 1-10. Not exactly a catch.

Our awkward conversation and even more awkward silence leads to her telling me how she is genetically superior to the other women in the surrounding communities. She says that her theory about why she is so much prettier and smarter than them is because they are all inbred. The theory is still suspicious. Especially when she is of below average looks and, judging from the school she goes to, below average intelligence.

She was silent for most of our date so I tried to make conversation. At one point I asked her a question, she gave me a short, vague answer so I gave my answer to the question. She then loudly blurted out that I talked too much and she wanted to talk about her. I had only been talking to fill the awkward silence she created.

She told me she had to go to class so she hastily took off. Her ex-boyfriend stood up to follow her. He had been sitting in the next booth, hidden behind a wall, listening to everything that was said. I looked down at my phone to see that she had blown me off 20 minutes before her class started. Confused doesn’t even begin to cover it…

In the sixth form the class hunk rang me up and asked me out. I
had a great time but he was rather quiet. At the end of the evening
he said moodily, I thought I'd asked out your sister (we're identical twins), not you!

Worst date i was on was many years ago when i was a shy 18 year old working awya from home. I was a trainee manager of a shop in Oldham and the girls that worked in the shop aksed me to go out with them and there was an "admirer" going to come along too. I got talking at the club to this admirer and to my suprise , I felt her rub her foot several times up the back of my leg. This certainly gave my confidence a boost! I relaxed more as she kept doing it and winking at me. I went to the bar to get her a drink and when I got back, to my disappointment she had vanished!!!!! I was very disappointed and wondered why she had made a hasty exit when things were going so well. I quickly realised when I got a strong smell of dog poo............. she was only wiping dog turd that she had stood in up my trouser legs, not getting fruity with me as I thought she was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst date: met in city centre one saturday lunchtime & he was supposed taking to a pub which was closed - so, instead of taking me to one of the 100 or so other available pubs, winebars etc he took me for a drive to s field near the local airport to watch the planes take off! To make matters worse in the hour or so we were there not one palne took off or landed - I couldn't wait to get home.

I had never met Alexis* before in person, yet we had built up a close relationship through calling each other, texting and skyping. We decided to meet in a public location so we chose a train station. I told him I was going to be wearing my favourite fox hat - real fur, and he agreed he would wear his Borat style mankini over his jeans. We were both famished after our long days at work- myself being a toilet cleaner and Alexis being a manager for a well known business aka Cineworld, so we chose to visit the local bistro, McDonalds. After our cheese burgers we decided to go for a pint at the local, otherwise known as the Wacky Warehouse. I gradually got bored of Alexis and despised his conversation, repeatedly about his male grooming and went looking for something a bit more entertaining, and found the ball pit. After playing by myself for a while a attendant eventually asked me to leave, after there had been a few complaints from the parents of small children, and I ventured back into the bar to look for my date. I soon spotted him chatting to another man, and as I was walking over he climbed onto a table and started to strip naked! Just as he was about to remove his underwear, silk Calvin Klein I remember, he fell flat onto his face breaking his nose. In a pool of his own vomit he looked straight at me and said ‘next week again?’

    I said no.

Turned up to new girlfriends house to take her out for the evening, her mother answered the door in stockings, suspenders high heels and basque....my girlfriend had walked to the end of the road to wait for me and her mother was expecting a "friend" over as she had the house to herself for the night! I turned pale, the mother turned red and the girlfriend a funny shade of purple when I told her.

I am lucky enough to go on a best ever date once a month.
I have been married for 34 years and once a month no matter what
we make sure we go out just the two of us (where is not important)
But to we listen and talk to each other with no distractions
or interruptions it is always a real pleasure
After all TIME is the most precious thing we can give each other.

The worst date I ever went on was when I was 21, I was in a long-term relationship with my boyfriend (at the time!). However, I felt the relationship was not working so decided that over dinner I would let him down gently, thinking he was bound to agree and we could 'just be friends'. It took me a while to pluck up the courage and after the main course I shared how I felt. Unfortunately, he was completely taken aback and practically broke down at the dinner table, he then threw up his dinner! Mmm.

The worst date ever was with a guy I'd been praying would ask me out for a year. He finally did and took me out to the low end restaurant where his mother worked. I didn't mind, I was just glad to be there on a date with him but his mother took an instant dislike to me. She insisted on serving us, forced me to get a salad because "I look like one of those girls who will stay fat after pregnancy", and put her fingers in my food to "check it". I finally snapped when she "accidentally" split my dessert all over my new dress and jokily said to my date "I don't think your mum likes me very much." At which point, I kid you not, my date stood up and slapped me for bad mouthing his mother. There were a lot of people in the restaurant and they were all watching so the manager came out and asked what had happened. I tearfully told him that my date had hit me and what his mother had done. His response was to kick me out and ban me from the establishment.
Turns out the manager was my date's Uncle, twin brother to his mother. I haven't dated anyone since.

Went on a first date with a really nice guy, we were in a restaurant and I made my excuses and went to the toilet to powder my nose! Walked back to the table, sat down. From that moment on I noticed a difference in my dates demeanor, he kept looking away and seemed to have a strange look on his face, to be honest I just thought he had wind! Anyway the date finished and I went into my bedroom to get ready for bed, looked down and noticed that my skirt was tucked in my knickers!!!!

My worst date was the time I had invited a new girl to the restaurant on a whim (she was a temp..me and my regular girl were not speaking). The new girl entered the restaurant. I followed and sat down. I followed. We were sitting in a nice corner but not so secluded as I discovered later. After the main course and after drinking wine I was becoming amorous but it happened during dessert.....I guess thats when my regular spotted me or had about just enough....she flicked her blingy ring that I had her bought her across the table and it landed in front of Nadine (the temp) who, by the way is from the Ukraine. I just shrugged and told Nadine that is was a good luck custom for girls to do that...and she seemed satisfied. Well I might lose girls with my philandering, but something tells me I wont lose that ring if I bring them here.

My worst date was also my best date. I had a blind friend Mark who wanted to go out on a date with a girl Laura he’d been talking to on the phone (he was a telephonist for a bank). He asked me to go with him and make up a foursome as he had problems with getting around in new places, so I agreed to go on a blind date with another friend of his. We all met up in a bar. The date was a disaster for me.
I am sort of arty and sensitive, but my date was a chubby fascist banker. But cupid was definitely there somewhere, as Mark and Laura got married on Valentine’s day the following year.

She was famous. I was a no-body. I worked on constructing her stage set. The tour had come to the UK from Paris. She saw me and actually came over to talk to me: "Do you want to come for a drink, sometime?" she said shyly but probably knowing I'd say yes. She named a bar and a time. I went home showered and changed wanting to look good. I got there early. Ordered a drink and waited. And waited. And ordered another drink. And waited. Who was I? A nobody? why would she turn up?
I put my drink down to go. Humiliation. I left the bar and straight into my dream looking lost and flushed.

We both walked home (or should I say staggered) eventually deciding to have a sit down on a bench, when all of a sudden I felt very queasy, and threw up all over him. One of my new boy friends house mates decided he would cook a meal for 10 of us. Unfortunately my watch had stopped (yes, I own a watch that actually needs winding up) and so I was nearly an hour late for the dinner. The house mate, who had cooked and had been told by my boy friend to keep the food warm and wait for me to arrive was ,not unsurprisingly, sulky all evening. Not a good start to a new relationship, I think it is only polite to be punctual and I usually am very punctual. Now for a question. Would you believe someone who said their watch had stopped?
For those who are interested we are still all good friends, I married the boyfriend and I still have the watch.

We got on like a house on fire and went on several more, we was very good at keeping our relationship quiet and nobody knew until we announced I was 12 weeks pregnant. My worst date started innocently enough as a meal at a local restaurant on a warm winters evening. The food was nice and the company great. All was going well until just before the dessert was served my date offered me a top up on my wine.

I agreed so he picked up the bottle of fine red wine, leant forward to top up my glass, lost his balance and poured the remainder of the bottle down my new cream dress. I had only brought a short jacket with me so there was no way for me to cover the red mess that covered my frock. Very embarrassed he gulped down his desert, made his excuses and asked for the bill.

I suggested getting a bottle of wine but she immediately shut me down as she had to get up early in the morning. As she was giving me nothing to work with I ended up talking about my socks. My worst date would have to be when I'd arranged to meet this guy who seemed okay in his photos but when he said hello he barely resembled it! Whilst it was similar he looked about 12 years old and like he was wearing his grandads jumper. He had a real attitude as he slammed his ID on the bar after being asked to show it as he looked young, and I knew instantly I didn't like him whatsoever. Out of politeness I stayed for a hour or so in which he informed me how his dad, a ex police officer, forces him to work 18 hours a day in two jobs and would kill him if he didn't (even though he didn't live in the area). He also said he worked in a factory when he was about 12 and that's how he got a huge hole in his hand after he fell asleep manning a saw. He then started telling me about how he spent a whole months rent to buy a rolex watch rather then the sensible option of saving up for one and his £800 chain that clearly meant the world to him. After he started asking me to come round to watch a dvd or get a takeaway I couldnt' get out of there fast enough and kept checking over my shoulder to make sure he wasn't following me!

My worst date was when I met who I thought was going to be the 'one'. When I met them they turned out to be awful in every way. Thought we had a lot in common but turned out it was a case of absolutely nothing in common. Could not wait to escape at the end of the date. Never again.

The worst date I ever went on was with someone who shall remain nameless. We went out on Valentines Day to a restaurant. He was opposed to Valentines Day and sat there with a face like pickled lemon. The miser grumbled about wasting his money upon a meal that was only 10 pounds and when we decided to leave nearly got into a fight with someone over a cab. The funniest part of the evening in this very cheap and cheerful restaurant was when I found a piece of onion on the menu and suggested that it could be used as a pointer to our chosen dish.

The best and worst date all happened at the same time. Finally got to go on a date with a guy who I had been flirting with for a while, all was going well, we went for a few drinks then back to his because he had cooked me a dinner. I was so nervous but also excited my stomach couldn't cope, so finally it said enough is enough, and as her brought out the main course I threw up all over the table and him and the dinner!!!! I was so embarrassed and made a quick messy exit, but he called the next day, to see if I was ok and arrange another date!!!!!

The worst date EVER for me was a 2nd date with a guy named Mark. He arranged to meet me during an afternoon at the the end of summer but had no idea what to suggest doing. We ended up shivering in a non descript city centre park surrounded by wino's, barely finding anything to talk about. I felt I would never hear from him again and was quite pleased about that but for some reason gave him another chance to redeem himself a few weeks later. Luckily I did as we now live together and are planning our future, we never run out of things to say and do and have so much fun it is hard to believe we were ever that dull!

Anyway he took me back to his flat where he had prepared this amazing meal, he had champagne cooling on the table, a bunch of rosies and a present. He bowled me over. xx

My best date was when I met my husband on a blind date to a gig, he had a spare ticket. Love at first sight, we just clicked. Worst definitely in the days before the mobile when you had to trust your pre-date arrangements were correct and waiting at the agreed meet point till they did/didn't arrive- obv the worst was when they didn't and you had to crawl depressingly home with no good experience to report at all.

This isn't a proper date... but when I first started going out with my boyfriend we were going to have a film night together. I bought a table full of food even though it was too much for me to afford for a week and was really nervous and excited since we had only just started dating. He came around carrying flowers and some more food and was really sweaty since he ran to my flat not wanting to be late. Instead of having a romantic film night with lots of food we both felt really sick and only had about 5 tortilla crisps each the whole night...so I had to spend the rest of the week finishing off most of the food before it expired... that and we only managed half a film... We were so nervous that night but happily together still a year on :)

My best date was the first proper one I had as a teenager. We had fancied eachother for ages from a distance, and finally got together after much trading of insults, jokes and the usual teenage stuff. Neeedless to say once we got together it was magic. It astounds me how we used to stay lip-locked together for so long at that age!

I went on a date with a guy many years ago. It was a lovely sunny Sunday in Cornwall and so we went out for a drive. There was I, expecting perhaps a nice Sunday lunch, a glass of wine and maybe a stroll along the coast...but no. He took me to watch a match at his local cricket club! In fact, the closest I got to food was when he informed me that some of the 'wives' at the cricket club prepare tea and sandwiches for the players. Maybe I would like to do this too...!!

I met up with the boy we've been e-mailing with for half a year, each of us flying 9 hours to get there, in New York. First meet at 1 am in a Brooklyn bar (in a former fire station), over to Manhattan, borsch at Veselka (with the Ukranian hookers on a break) at 3 am, walk to Madison Square, dawn with Antony Gormley's Event Horizon statues there, then to Central Park, back down to Chelsea Market, and breakfast at Brooklyn Bagel Company, 8th Ave and 23rd St. Best date ever, and probably the most walking done in New York by a couple in 12 hours, without much attention paid to the sights. I've never been immersed so completely in another human being before.

my worse date was when I was a naive 18 year old, out on one of my first dates ever. I had arranged to meet this hunk I had met on Valentines day in our city centre. There I stood at the designated place, on time, clutching the first valentine card I had ever bought, to give to him. There I stood for an hour. It was the day before mobiles, so I was clueless as to what was going on. I then walked miserably to the bus stop, and got on my bus. It was then, as I looked gloomily out of the window that i spotted him, walking hand in hand with another girl. I didn't know men would behave that way, until that day.

My best friend, who was tired of hearing me complain about being single, booked me for a speed dating experience as a birthday present. I was quite shocked by the whole thing but also was quite excited about meeting new interesting people. It all started quite well, until this guy - 20 years older than me and very unattractive - decided that I should be his date and noone elses. He kept coming back to my table, lunging in between me and all my other 'dates' making it impossible for me to talk to anyone. I am glad he blew all my chances, as that day I also received a massive bunch of red roses from a friend who I had known for months, and who is now my husband.

Years ago when I was looking for Mr Right, my best friend rang me all excited one snowy weekend. "Get dolled up, we're coming over to go sledging and Paul (her boyfriend) has brought his mate who is gorgeous!" I didn't need asking twice and tried to look warm but beautiful!. My friend was right, Paul's mate was georgous but I found him difficult to talk to - he was very quiet. I was the first to take the sledge down a really steep slope and they all waited at the bottom. ( And yes, I was showing off!) Trouble was I didnt stop where I was meant to and girlie screaming, I crashed into brambles and nettles and really hurt myself. However, a tall, lean figure was running over...Mr Quiet!! He cared about me after all!....could this be the start of a big romance?? I waited for his arms to protect me.......to check I was ok.........However, his arms went for the sledge under me and he yanked it free from under my body. Then he legged it up the slope eager to have his turn. Who says romance is dead!!!

Last Christmas my boyfriend invited me to his place for the first time. When I got there, I was surprised to see no Christmas decorations, etc., because the week before he had asked me if I knew of anywhere he could buy a real tree.
After a great dinner, which he made himself and a few glasses of wine he suggested we went to the bedroom.
He opened the door, so I could enter first and I was amazed at what I could see. In the corner of the room there was a large xmas tree with lights flashing away and the room was full of decorations, fake snow, stars spelling out my name on the bed, etc.
Suddenly I heard a loud, Ho! Ho! Ho! I turned and saw a small plastic Santa which kept pushing his sack in my direction.
"Open the sack," my boyfriend said.
I opened it to find an engagement ring, I was so happy I did not know whether to laugh or cry, I think I did a little of both.
I said, "yes, of course I will" and we are now planning to get married this year.
I can't wait to see what surprises await me in our honeymoon bedroom.

I had a date which was a bit of a mix of the two... Whilst holidaying in Greece I met a stunning girl on the beach, and my luck was in as she asked me out for a drink. So, the evening went amazingly, as we chatted and got on really well. I even thought that this could be the luckiest day ever as she asked me back to her apartment. As we reclined on the apartment's balcony, getting closer and closer together... my sun lounger decided to collapse, sending me backwards. Embarrassing enough, but the worst of it was that my head hit the gap in the curvy concrete balcony pillars and wedged completely. I was totally stuck, and she had to fetch help to free me. For some reason... I didn't see her again after that night.

    WORST DATE EVER!!
I was 18, thought I was cool seeing a 23yr old guy (even though he was ridiculously boring... it was cool!, yeah right!). He took me to Chester for the day. Firstly, I got sick on the boat ride down the river. Then when we went to Old Orleans for a meal, I burnt my finger on the hot plate and literally had to hold it in my drink to stop it throbbing. I then proceeded to drop steaming hot broccoli (in a sauce) on my trousers which were of the linen variety. I had one beautiful blister, one brocolli shaped see-through grease stain on my thigh and I had sea-sick breath. He still wanted to see me again after this, but I just told him I was too busy with work. Such a shame, he really wanted a to treat a gal like his princess... just not for me! Bless him.

The worst date I went on was out for an Italian. The guy I was with ate his lasagne with a spoon shovelling it down. He paid at the end with his Dad's credit card, I was not impressed!!

Worst date - and my first. When I was twelve I agreed to go on a 'date' with Malcolm. My Mum dropped me off at the park and we met up in the playground. I was trying to be all tough and brave so I went on the aerial rope slide. Malcolm thought he was helping by pushing me really hard from the top of the jump off point. I slid down that thing like a bat out of hell, but I hit the other platform so violently the bar flung back in my face and gave me a nosebleed. Malcolm was impressed but also said he definitely wouldn't be kissing me that day.

My worst date: 1978 I was on shore leave from the Royal Navy in Lisbon, Portugal. Desperate to speak to my family back in the UK I entered a major Post office but alas no one could speak English when out of nowhere a vision in a leopard print cat suit came to my assistance. Great I thought speak to family and a hot woman in the process. She lead me back to her place and we climbed the stairs only to find I was invited to a prayer meeting. Deflation set in in more ways than one and after dodging the abundant amount of candles raced out of the house leaving my dream woman and fantasy behind for a local hostelry to drown my sorrows

Worst date - Met a girl in a nightclub and invited her out for a day in Derbyshire the following day with a group of friends, which see seemed up for. When I picked her up, she was wearing a very short skirt and killer heels. Not too clever for the Derbyshire countyside! Things went rapidly downhill from there......

my worst ever date was a one night stand she stayed over at my parents house and she was the first girl i had ever brought home with me so i was worried about what my parents would think so told this girl that she would have to wait upstairs until my folks went out, she told me that she needed the toilet but i told her that she would have to wait anyways next thing i know she suddenly stands up shouts TO LATE and has an accident all over my bedroom floor needless to say we didnt see each other again and i had to tell my mum and dad that my best mate had got to drunk and had an accident on the floor lol

I went for a meal with my now ex boyfriend and it was a complete disaster. He was in a bad mood as someone had sent me a Valentines card and present and also sent flowers to our hotel. Needless to say it wasn't a very enjoyable meal.

The worst dates are like some of the ones above.Where one or more parties tries waaaaay too hard and tells more than a few white lies to get the prize of a second date. The best ones are the fruity, juicy ones that leave you wanting more and with a sweet taste on yor lips.I've had plenty of both but I'm going to watch what I say as sometimes its time2 be quiet.

  221. 221. By Carol Gardner on February 9, 2011

worst: Blind date set up by a friend with her boyfriends brother, who she said she had never met. He was smelly, unwashed, unshaven, wore hideous clothes, had a glass eye and no personality whats so ever, and his only conversation was football, which I hate. The worst thing was, he kept turning up at my place of work for the next 2 weeks hoping to change my mind, he was really any ones worst nightmare. My friend thought it was really funny. I never went on another blind date ever again.

My worst date was when two guys turned up at the meeting place to take me out,yes I had forgotten I had arranged to meet one of them there and arranged to meet the other,Luckily I spotted them both stood there and beat a hasty retreat before they both saw me! No date for me that night.

  223. 223. By Phillippa on February 9, 2011

The worst date I have been on was with a man called Peter who took me to a local cafe and basically interviewed me and asked me the most stupid questions such as 'have I ever tried marmite on cheese thins!?' - it was very bizzare and to top it off when I asked him questions, he hardly spoke! Needless to say - it didnt work out :)

The worst date I have ever been on was when we went on a romantic walk with a picnic and almost got stuck in a muddy peat bog because we went off the beaten track. Stinky bog mud is NOT romantic at all - especially when it's all over your brand news shoes!

My worst date was all down to me. We went to the pub before we were supposed to head off out for a meal. Me being nervous and not a big drinker didn't mix well. I drank just 3 glasses of wine because I was nervous and ended up feeling really queasy so I couldn't go for a meal so he suggested trying again another night and I said ok. As he helped me into a taxi I tripped and fell into it, I was mortified. Let sjust say that second date never happened

My best date was with my boyfriend of 4 years, for my 21st birthday he took me to edinburgh for the weekend in a nice hotel, he took me on a ghost tour on the night followed by a slap up meal at a gorgeous italian. When we got back to the hotel he suprised me with a stunning birthday cake and he had even managed to light the candles without setting the smoke alarm off! The next day we had a day at the zoo despite the freezing cold November weather and he treat me like a princess the whole weekend. Im a very lucky girl :)

‘What’s the best or worst date you’ve ever been on?'

The worst date I have ever been on was a trip to the cinema, 15 minutes into the film she took a toilet break and never came back, on the bright side the movie I would have given a 9/10

I was 15 years old and my new boyfriend invited me to the fair. He drove us there and then asked me to look after his car keys. Yes you guessed it I lost them! He hot wired the car to get me home. My mum was horrified that he knew how to do that and banned me from ever seeing him again. That didn't really matter as he didn't want to see me ever again because I was so careless with his keys!!!!

My best and worst date was meeting a young lady in a pub during my carefree days of single super-studness. I ended up marrying her....The jury remains out on the plusses and minusses of THAT encounter :)

Worst date - gorgeous amazing beautiful girl waiting patiently for me on first date, but car broke down in the middle of nowhere so I never even arrived :-( This was before the era of the mobile phone, and of course she thought I couldn't be bothered, worse she believed in first impressions and decided I was unreliable. I never got another chance, and will never know what could have been.
