· If you’re wondering what style to choose, take a sneak peak in the person’s wardrobe (if possible!) and remind yourself which labels they like.

· Also have a look in their jewellery box and see what metallic tones they like (are they yellow gold/silver/vintage) – there’s a lot of titanium and rose gold watches around at the moment.

· If you can’t have a nose in their wardrobe, just clock the kind of jewellery/colour tones they normally wear.

· Decide whether the person you’re buying for is classic / sporty / feminine and opt for brands which reflect their personality.

· Do you want this to be an everyday watch or a glitzy, evening style? Think about its purpose.

· Be inspired by luxury brands and the trends which have made their way to high street fashion – i.e. DKNY ceramic styles, a la Chanel.

· Candy colours and exotic prints are hot right now, but if you’re unsure about colour then it’s best to stay neutral.
