Today I have the pleasure of previewing one of the newest releases from British watchmaker Bremont. For those that do not know, Bremont is a rising star within the luxury watch market, and its timepieces have been seen on many a celebrity wrist such as Orlando Bloom, Tom Cruise and Taylor Lautner.
Bremont has strong heritage roots within the aviation industry, which means you can be sure that these watches are as durable and hard wearing as they come. They are tested in the extreme conditions necessary to work for pilots, meaning it can handle anything you throw at it in everyday life. [Bremont is currently testing its latest models with ambassador Ben Saunders who is on an expedition to the North Pole.]
Today we are specifically looking at the Supermarine S500 Diver's Watch. If you are a serious diver or simply enjoy diving as a hobby, you need a serious diver’s watch – and a Bremont will never let you down. Not only does it have every feature (and more) that you would ever need from a diver’s watch: 500 metres water resistant for even the deepest sea dives, a hardened steel case, is cage fitted, has an anti-shock case mount and an automatic helium escape valve. It is also an absolutely stunning timepiece, which you will never want to take off.
If you are buying a luxury watch you expect it to be Swiss made, and this is true for all Bremont watches. However, although the mechanism and precision timekeeping is Swiss, Bremont produces all the designs and finishing touches here in the UK, which means that it has that British charm and sophistication you do not get with other watch luxury brands.
Us Brits are always at the forefront of fashion design with the likes of Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood and Burberry dominating the industry and you can see the influence the instant you lay eyes on this piece - it is a perfect mesh of precision and design.
If you are going to be investing in a watch like this, then you need to know that you will get good use out of it. Fear not, as this watch could easily pass for a fashion accessory.
The blue coloured strap and face is timeless, so it will never look dated. It is also not your standard black, brown or silver watch colour, making this a real standout piece that will make people sit up and take notice. Once they do, you can be sure that they will be impressed with the beautifully contrasting numerals, steel casing and attention to detail that has gone into the watch. This is an accessory that would look just as good under a suit as it would with jeans and a tee at the weekend, and even better when you are 200 metres underwater.
