TIME² Launches Retro Watch Brand Casio

Casio (part of the Japanese technology firm Casio Group) launched its first watch, the Casiotron, in 1974. The Casiotron was the world's first digital watch with automatic calendar and won critical acclaim as a groundbreaking product which represented a complete departure from the conventional wristwatch.

Casio has achieved innovation, not only in watch functions, but also in manufacturing and materials. In 1978, it was the first watch brand in the world to adopt plastic for the watch case and wristband.

In 1983, Casio Group launched the shock-resistant G-Shock watch, which you can also buy online at TIME². This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewellery which needs to be handled with care and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world's toughest watch.

Today, Casio Group is focusing its efforts on solar-powered, radio-controlled watches. A built-in solar battery eliminates the need to replace batteries and the radio-controlled function means users never have to reset the time...so watch this space!
