The Show Off Watch Guide

We can all pretend that we buy watches for the craftsmanship of the detailing or accuracy of the watch mechanism. Sure, these are good reasons, but if we’re honest there are more obvious motivations behind our purchase! We buy fine watches because they shout social status - in short; we buy because we want to flash.

It’s a perfectly valid reason. For men, owning a fine timepiece is one of the only ways to truly indulge in luxury. “What about cars?” I hear you say; well, you cannot walk around with a car strapped to your wrist!

With that in mind, here’s my pick of the flashiest of the flash – these watches are sure to get you noticed. Be warned, some are pricy; but then again, who’s looking at the price tag! The best is always expensive.

Hublot - Big Bang

The ultimate statement watch; it won the “Grand prix d’horlogerie de Geneve” for best design in 2005. Created around a fusion of materials, this was one of the first watches to mix steel, ceramic and rubber. Pictured above is the new King power foudroyante all black, limited to 500 pieces, retail £15,950. We’ve just received our first one, go and check it out in our Westfield store; it’s amazing.

Audemars Piguet – Royal Offshore

The show stopper. Now this is a big watch, clearly meant for a confident person. Everything about it is stunning. Not only is the craftsmanship superb but it’s also is a fashion classic, it was cool, even before Jay-Z was spotted brandishing one. Pictured here is the brand new Royal Oak offshore silver dial with red detailing and second hands, retail £13,800.

Breitling – Super Avenger

It’s BIG, at 48.4mm wide, it clearly rides the oversize trend and is there to be noticed! Breitling always manage to marry technical complexity and style effortlessly. Pictured here is the black PVD limited edition from 2008, retail £3,800. We have only one left in Westfield!

If you still want to take it up a notch... all of the above come with diamond bezel options, because nothing flashes more than diamonds!
