In 2006, an innovative duo in Lugano, Switzerland came up with a design for a watch that was abstract, individual and like nothing else they’d seen before. At this Eureka moment, Tendence was born, and it’s taken little time for the small brand to make a big impact in the worlds of luxury watches and fashion.
The relatively young company is best known for producing unisex pieces with deep-dish “tridemensional” dials, oversized cases, embossed hour markers and a kaleidoscopic range of colours. Within the past five years, its avant garde pieces have garnered attention from watch lovers in over 100 countries, and their impeccable sense for trend has earned them attention in global publications including Vogue, GQ, Cosmopolitan and Rolling Stone.
The flagship range upon which the brand has forged its formidable reputation is the Gulliver collection, which epitomises the expert Swiss craftsmanship, edgy design and unmistakable individuality for which they are renowned. Aptly named for their generous size and chunky aesthetic, watches in the Gulliver line feature Tendence’s trademark silicon strap, stainless steel and hi-tech polycarbonate cases, and water resistance to at least 100m. The Gulliver Round and Gulliver Sport edition (pictured on the first slide, left) feature a 50mm case, while those with smaller wrists can opt for the Gulliver Medium and its less imposing 41mm case.
A watch not to be missed is the special-edition Gulliver Round Automatic Skeleton (pictured on the first slide, right), which features a see-through caseback, designed to give a full view of the stunning fully automatic movement contained within.
The largest watches produced by Tendence are in the G-52 collection, which premiered at Baselworld 2010. Named for its 52mm case, the G-52 perfectly combines Tendence’s unparalleled innovation, bold style and audacious design. Available with or without a chronograph movement and in six different colours, the G-52 features a rotational bezel, 200m water resistance and a durable and light titanium case.
Another Tendence future classic is the Gulliver Round Diver (pictured on the second slide, left), which combines a unique “Analogue Digital” movement with practical functions that can display pressure, depth, average depth, temperature and total dive time on its LCD display. Yet another strikingly different Tendence piece is the Gulliver Round Hydrogen (pictured on the second slide, right), a collaborative effort with exclusive Italian fashion brand Hydrogen. The unusual skull design is available in five different colours.
Whether you seek a stylish accessory for a casual wardrobe, something sporty for the weekend or a unique piece that will truly stand out in the crowd, there is something in the Tendence range to suit you.
