Comparing the men’s and women’s TAG Heuer Aquaracers is all a question of nuance. If the men’s version favours quality timekeeping and professional dive features, like water resistance up to 500m, above pure aesthetics, the ladies’ Aquaracer takes a more genteel approach, with beauty and refinement edging out performance as the dominant theme.
This being TAG Heuer, of course, high performance is never taken lightly. The high-end model of the ladies’ Aquaracer Quartz, for instance, has the same screw-down crown and case back as the men’s watch and is water resistant down to 300 metres. Like its men’s sibling it also features a unidirectional turning bezel and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
Other features of this model, however, combine to ratchet up the style quotient and, on this score at least, help leave her more rugged brother far behind. The bezel, for instance, is in 18k solid gold and is studded with the glory of 35 diamonds. The bracelet, too, is in 18k gold plate and the dial is set with diamond indexes.
Other models come with other notable features: mother-of-pearl or baby blue dials, for instance, or bracelets with special extension systems that allow them to be worn over a wet suit. And if there were any doubt remaining that this is a diver’s watch, for all its femininity, the backs are engraved with divers’ helmets or diving bells.
