TAG Heuer – A Formula 1 Watch With Style

Despite Bahrain withdrawing from hosting the opening round, the new Formula 1 season is nearly upon us. [Kicking off at the end of next month in Australia]. And with all the hype about pre-season practise from Jerez, it seems like an opportune moment to showcase a brand which has become synonymous with motor racing and precision time keeping in general, TAG Heuer.

TAG Heuer has had a long standing relationship with Formula 1; it was the official timekeeper for the sport up until 2003 and continues to sponsor the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team as well as their high profile British drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, who won the drivers’ championship in 2009 and 2008 respectively.

[During SIHH this year, TAG Heuer hosted a temporary exhibition in Geneva featuring world-class, historic racing cars - including the car that turned Lewis Hamilton into a Formula One world champion in 2008, the Audi used to bag first prize for Le Mans in 2010 and cars driven by Formula One star Jenson Button. See TIME²'s exclusive interview with TAG Heuer CEO Jean-Christophe Babin for more information.]

Even if you are not a fan of motor racing, TAG Heuer should be a name you are all familiar with, because they are one of the most recognised and respected watch brands in the world. With over 150 years experience in Swiss watch making, and even more active experience in precision time keeping (for sports such as Formula 1), a TAG watch is something that will serve you a lifetime.

The Formula One collection by TAG Heuer is a celebration of the sport which does not sacrifice on quality or styling. The collection is heavily influenced by the ethos and glamour of the sport, which means you can expect sporty, masculine and a youthful edge to its styling. For me though, the standout watch from the whole range is the Round Black Dial Steel Case Men's Fashion Watch.

This watch has all the features you would want from a traditional sports watch, such as water resistant to 200 metres, turning bezel for timing, a second counter and an alarm dial - but it doesn’t look over the top or ‘in your face’. The black face is muted and subtle with key detailing in red which makes the important details standout and come to life. The metal strap and casing is of the high quality construction you would expect from a luxury watch, whilst also adding good weight and a very masculine feel.

This is an everyday watch which can be worn within any casual outfit and can adapt to any occasion. It would look just as good with some chinos, deck shoes and a shirt as it would with your denim shorts, converse and t-shirt. Silver is also timeless, and because you are purchasing an original TAG Heuer, it means you can count on it to be a reliable timepiece for many years to come. A great investment watch.
