One of my favourite micro trends coming through is the subtle highlight of gold accents. And this has been reflected in this season's spring/summer watch offering.
In his latest AW11 show at New York Fashion Week, Alexander Wang showed rose gold tasselled loafers with a high heel to add polish to his utility-cool collection. Jason Wu’s AW11 offering featured gold-dipped stiletto heels that give a metallic wink when you walk. Meanwhile, one of the hits of Victoria Beckham’s spring-summer 11 show (pictured) was Brian Atwood’s rose gold platform pumps, apparently requested to match Vicky B’s very own rose gold Rolex.
The watch world has clearly been taking notes. Ltd Watch boasts a chunky rose gold watch that will look as good on a guy as a girl and its warm pinkish undertones make it a good choice for those who prefer their gold subtle, not showy.
Michael Kors’ rose gold dress watch has a whiff of 70’s glam about it – wear with vintage Halston and a cloud of Opium perfume for full effect.
And Marc by Marc Jacob's minimalist white watch with rose gold accents will sit beautifully alongside spring’s coterie of little white shirts (and blouses and dresses) whether they’re sporty, edgy or dressy.
