This week I'm feeling the green shoots of spring emerging. Admittedly they're microscopic but there's certainly less of a nip in the air...
Put it this way - the fleece-lined gloves are off and the cashmere sleeves are no longer stretched to the edges of my fingertips. Yes, wrists are on display! This all coincides with new season collections trickling into the shops, amongst them, a big focus on '70s sophistication.
Designers have plundered their archives yet again and the decadent days of the post-hippy ‘70’s have emerged triumphant.
For day, this translates as flared trouser-jeans accompanied by silk tie-neck blouses with sleeves rolled up to reveal a croc-strapped watch like Hugo Boss’s classic number. For night, break out a gold bracelet watch to wear with slinky, shoulder-baring maxi dresses (very Tom Ford does Studio 54) – Burberry’s watch will do nicely. And for the guys, a gold Longines quartz watch is the obvious choice – just luxe enough without being flashy.
