Swiss watch maker Raymond Weil launched online this month and it is a welcome addition to the luxury brands family.
Whilst major Swiss watch brands such as TAG Heuer, Baume & Mercier and Maurice Lacroix are now under the control of larger parent companies, Raymond Weil continues to keep its business in the hands of the Weil family; who pride themselves on upholding the values and craftsmanship that they launched with back in 1976.
The company is led under the guidance of Raymond Weil himself, as well as his son-in-law and two grandsons, who make up the board of directors. With a Raymond Weil watch you are buying a timepiece that is founded on traditional family values and handcrafted using knowledge passed down through generations of Swiss watchmakers; you can see this personality and quality in every piece they create.
As you would expect from a luxury brand, the latest range is of the highest quality. However, it is the styling and diversity that caught my eye. If you are looking for something rugged and masculine, whilst also being bang on trend, then try the Nabucco range. These chunky chronographs have a very sporty aesthetic, whilst my favourite in the range, the black 7810-BSF-05207, also hits the ‘all black’ trend I recently reported on my TIME² blog.
If you are looking for something slightly more refined you can use as a work or dress watch, then look no further than the Tradition collection. This mid-priced range features refined design using classic timeless styling. They have subtle, non-intrusive detailing, which means it would look great as a true business watch when paired with a suit, then dressed down at the weekend with a classic polo shirt and chino’s combination. The pick of the tradition range for me would be the Grey Men's Watch with its classic stainless steel bracelet and black face – this is a style that will last you years and will never date.
Finally, if you are looking for a true luxury watch then try the Freelancer range. These are my favourites within the whole collection as they seem to fuse traditional watch making principles with a much more modern aesthetic. Whether you opt for a black leather Freelancer or my pick of the range stainless steel version you know this range of automatic watches has been crafted to the excellence upheld for 3 generations.
