As the entire fashion industry teeters on the edge of its gilt seats for the launch of menswear site, Mr Porter, the menswear mood is spilling over into watches too.
Fashion has been enjoying a unisex aesthetic for a while, so what better way to channel it than with a chunky man-size watch? Men’s watches can easily be adapted for a womanly wrist so if an oversize face and heavyweight strap appeals, consider buying a men’s watch and have a few of the links taken out to fit (it should be loose but not baggy).
Burberry’s new white ceramic watch has a substantial dial with an elegantly slim strap, while Guess’s Newport Chronograph with classic steel bracelet is an excellent example. Alternatively, Emporio Armani’s square-faced watch is a versatile day-to-evening option whether you’re in a Lanvin LBD or a Tom Ford tux.
