One major trend for men’s watches this Spring/Summer comes in the form of the all white watch. Earlier on in the year I broke down its darker brother, the all black – telling you how it can add an edge to any outfit and become a real statement piece on your wrist. However, as summer approaches and the sun comes out, we need to leave the darker tones in the wardrobe and start utilising bold coloured pieces which attract the eye (and not the sun!).
The white watch couldn’t be a more appropriate addition to your wardrobe as it is the perfect finishing accessory to any nautical or French Riviera inspired outfit. Both of these looks are always major trends each and every year within men’s fashion, and 2011 will be no exception. White, blue, red and pastel tones are the key colour palette for these trends; so a white watch will coordinate easily with all your spring/summer casual outfits whilst still being bold enough to stand out and become a focal point.
Pair with tailored chino shorts, a Breton stripe tee/vest and some Ray-Ban clubmasters for an effortlessly cool nautical look, or be brave and rock some pastel coloured chinos (rolled up of course) a bold block colour polo shirt and your white watch to anchor the outfit - French Riviera at its finest and a look that is sure to turn heads.
The great thing about the all white watch trend is that so many of the brands have jumped on board and produced their own versions. There are watches such as this Nixon time teller and the LTD Limited edition silicon watch which are light weight, inexpensive and perfect for the upcoming festivals that have just been announced (could link to any of these such as V festival, Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury).
There are also some beautiful pieces from fashion designers like Armani Exchange and Michael Kors, which will look just as good in your trend outfits described above as they would with a suit or blazer at a summer wedding. A brand new all white version from celebrity favourite G-Shock is also available, which is a watch style that has been spotted on everyone from Usher to Prince Harry and Brad Pitt.
The true king of the new range though has to be the latest release from Rado. If you are looking for a true statement piece and have the money to spend, then this ceramic chronograph ticks all the boxes. Subtle styling, a beautiful flowing shape and a completely scratch proof body and face makes this the stand out watch from the entire collection. This is a watch that wouldn’t look out of place on the millionaires and playboys in the French Riviera – and you don’t get much more authentic than that.
