Luxury watches are set to boom in India this year, fuelled by a surge in demand and increased brand awareness.
According to the Indian fashion news website Fashion United, sales of brands such as Rolex, Swatch and Patek are prospering.
And compared to other luxury products, such as handbags, brand recognition in the watch industry in India is high, which is helping bolster sales in this sector.
Indian consumer behaviour has also gone through a radical makeover, with the shift changing from price to quality and strong brands with heritage are really benefiting from this.
Swatch Group, the world’s largest watchmaker, is expecting record sales in India during 2011.
