Another week, another round of fashion shows. This week may be about the couture but I’m still catching up with last month’s Resort shows. These I love. A precursor to what designers will be touting for SS12, the over-riding theme was 101 Ways To Do Scuba Style.
To break it down, the shapes are scuba luxe (serious neoprene bodycon at Derek Lam) and the colours electric neon (take your pick from Michael Kors’ blistering pinks, limes and yellows), with accessories to follow suit.
Handily, this season’s watches mean you can tap into the trends six months early if you so desire. DVF’s print wrap dresses would make a perfect match with Toywatch’s punchy neons or a stark white chrono for après-surf barbeques – by D&G perhaps?
Or clash tropical Hawaiian prints from Stella McCartney and Suno with a water-resistant surfer-girl watch by Adidas. For seriously sporty types, Lisa Marie Fernandez is the go-to name for neoprene swimsuits (very Bond Girl on Bondi beach). Accessorise with Diesel’s ‘Young Blood’ watch for extra dramatic effect.
