One of the new trends to emerge from Geneva 2010 is the return of the ultra thin watch.
Inspired from the 50s and 60s, always presented in a round case, with classic crisp white or black dials, those watches clearly cater for a classic market but also sign the return of the vintage look in fine watches. It shows understated elegance at its finest.
The prime example of this trend is the new IWC Portuguese hand-wound, which comes in stainless steel with a white with gold numerals or black dial on a crocodile strap. The watch retails for £5,750. Furthermore, IWC has also launched a limited edition of 500 called Portuguese hand wound pure classic.
At the top end of the market. Audemars Piguet presented a fantastic ultra thin automatic Jules Audemars, 41MM in 18ct rose gold retailing at £16,360. One brand that did not wait for 2010 to present ultra thin watches is Vacheron Constantin. The brand is an absolute reference in classical thin watches.
On a slightly more affordable level, Baume Mercier has also launched an ultra thin quartz Classima for £975. So whatever your budget, you can make sure you wear the clearly essential ultra thin watch.
